The course is approved by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and incorporates all the necessary requirements under the regulations. Upon completion of the course a certificate of currency valid for two years is issued with a comprehensive feedback sheet from your CASA approved facilitator.

Safe Transport of Infectious Substances by Air Course

If either you or your staff packs, or supervises an individual who packs, dangerous goods for transport by air (including enclosing the goods in packaging, or marking or labeling the consignment or preparing a shipper’s declaration) then you are required by the Civil Aviation Safety Regulation Part 92 (CASR 92) to ensure that both you and your staff receive dangerous goods training on a Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) approved course. Classes of Dangerous Goods Covered are Class 2.2 (e.g. liquid nitrogen), Class 3 (e.g. methanol, ethanol or formaldehyde solutions), Class 6.2 (e.g. infectious substances, biological substances, patient specimens) and Class 9 (e.g. dry ice, genetically modified micro-organisms). Initial training and renewal is conducted via a one day tutorial course or correspondence.

Dangerous Goods Acceptors and Shippers Course

A Dangerous Goods Acceptance and Shippers Course should be completed by anyone who accepts or supervises persons accepting dangerous goods for an operator or freight forwarder. After completion of the initial three (3) day course the Civil Aviation Academy will advise you when your currency is due and provide you with the one day refresher course. This is required every two (2) years via a one day Refresher Course.
